What an interesting topic, Glad! I loved reading all the response; I realise that somehow, sharing one's personnal process and relation to it is something intimate and can only be shared with people we feel will understand, people who love drawing too. This is why this community is so precious!
These are many questions you ask, so I'll start with courage. Courage is what is needed to overcome fear. In art and so many other domains, it's usually performance stress. If I don't have anything to prove (to others or to myself), I don't feel the fear of failure, therefor no need for courage. I can just start and let myself follow the flow. That's when I don't see time go by... when I stop I realise my intuition (magic) took over :-)
Many things will help me drop away fear; a caring, understanding and welcoming community like this one is on the top of the list for me.
