Unless you are able to clearly show the difference between the separate colors and what will be highlights, is will be confusing, because parts may look unfinished rather than a different color. Your best bet is to make sure that ... moreYes, that is difficult. Unless you are able to clearly show the difference between the separate colors and what will be highlights, is will be confusing, because parts may look unfinished rather than a different color. Your best bet is to make sure that both of those separate colors, are developed enough that they read as such. Then both colors of hair have to have the same rules of light applied, and be contoured within their own sets and range of values. It is a hard way to start, without having much previous experience drawing hair. One thing is for sure, you will learn something. One of the most common problems with drawing dark hair is that, it can easily become solid as you try and achieve the dark hair. Don't forget the brush! If you have developed it too much, without allowing for some of the highlight and contour as you draw, it tends to smear. If you have developed it too much, without allowing for some of the highlight and contour as you draw, it tends to smear. You also want to take into consideration where it will be darker, as you are pulling out of the darker areas, showing how the light is working and also using your range of value in the strokes to demonstrate contour, depth and dimension is important.
